Join us on April 8th for a one-of-a-kind prehistoric evening at The Etches Collection Museum, a special event celebrating The Secret Lives of Dinosaurs - By Dr Dean Lomax, illustrated by Bob Nicholls

Begin your evening with a talk, book signing and Q&A from acclaimed palaeontologist Dr Dean Lomax and world-renowned palaeoartist Bob Nicholls. Discover the remarkable real-world behaviours of ancient creatures through the fossils and artwork featured in their new book.

As part of this unique event, Dr Steve Etches MBE will be in the gallery for the evening.

Being able to hear from Dr Dean Lomax, Bob Nicholls, and Dr Steve Etches in the very museum where fossils from the book are displayed makes this event a truly special, immersive, and one-of-a-kind experience.

About the Speaker
Dr Dean Lomax is the author of more than ten books, is a leading authority on ichthyosaurs, and travels the world excavating and researching dinosaurs and other ancient animals. Like many people, Dean's passion for palaeontology stems from a childhood fascination with everything dinosaur. His career has taken an unconventional route – without the grades or finances to study palaeontology at university, Dean sold his possessions at age 18 to fund a trip to excavate dinosaurs in America, and immersed himself in research, as well as writing scientific papers and books. He since become affiliated with The University of Manchester as an Honorary Research Fellow, completing an MPhil and PhD, and is a 1851 Research Fellow at The University of Bristol. He hopes that his unconventional career helps inspire others from disadvantaged backgrounds to pursue their dreams.

Bob Nicholls is a world-renowned natural history artist who specializes in the reconstruction of prehistoric animals, plants, and environments. His illustrations and models have been published in more than forty books and exhibited in over forty museums, universities, and visitor attractions around the world. He was the illustrator for the books, “The Secret Lives of Dinosaurs”, and “Locked in Time”, written by Dr Lomax.

This is an on-site event only, tickets provide access to the talk only, tickets to the museum will need to be purchased seperately should you wish to explore the museum. Ticket revenue will be gifted to Rockwatch* to help children develop and explore their interests in the earth sciences. 

Please arrive 15 minutes before the event it due to start. Talk to last around 45 minuets followed by a Q&A and book signing. 

*All children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a paying adult

If for any unforseen circumstances the event is cancelled you may opt for either a refund or rebook on a future date. Tickets are otherwise non-refundable but if you have any issues with your booking please contact us with at least 48 hours notice.
