Please note that this is a historical tour, we will not be exploring the palaeontology or geology of Kimmeridge Bay.
Did you know that the village of Kimmeridge has a long and varied history? Come and join us for our new history tour. You will learn about the history of the village from the Bronze Age right up to present day. We will walk through the village and down to the Bay, where we will cover the village’s industrial history, the role it played during the Second World War and a whole host of other fascinating stories.
Tours will take place on Thursday the 29th of February and Thursday the 14th of March at 11 am.
Meet at the museum, this will be the start and finish point of the tour.
*All children under the age of 16 must be accompanied by a paying adult on a History Tour
History tour tickets do not include entrance to the museum gallery, dogs are not permitted on the tours. If the weather is particularly stormy, the tour may be cancelled and you may opt for either a refund or rebook a tour on a future date. Tickets are otherwise non-refundable but if you have any issues with your booking please contact us with at least 48 hours notice.

History Tours
This trip is intended to be enjoyable and educational, but if it any point you feel uncomfortable, please let any of the museum staff know. Do not leave the group without informing us or go off alone.
- You attend the tour AT YOUR OWN RISK.
- Please do not attend the tour if you have any COVID symptoms. If you test positive on the day of the tour you may rebook for a future date.
- The rocks in the bay are very slippery when wet, any rocks that look greenish or are covered in a fine layer of weed are especially treacherous and you will slip or fall so try to avoid them. Please make sure you have appropriate footwear on now.
- Please stay together and do not wander off on your own, those responsible for a child or young person it is your responsibility to keep them with you. Please could you all wear your high-vis vests at all times.
- Mobile telephone signal in the area is poor to non-existent, we have radios with us so that we can contact the museum if we need to. These only work in select areas so stay together. There are also radios available in the Ranger Hut at the Eastern end of the bay when open.
- Due to the nature of the environment, there inherent risks, so please follow any instructions given for your own safety.
- Please let us know of any relevant medical conditions that may affect your ability to participate.
